Emily-May Sibley (UK, born 2002) studied at City and Guilds of London Art School. Her work explores the landscape and its connection to the sublime, the void and infinity.

As a British printmaker, her work delves into the landscape, exploring its connection with the sublime, the void, and infinity. She is captivated by the notion of endless spaces and the subtle suggestion of form that teeters on the edge of existence. Through her etchings, she explores the interplay of tone, movement, and light to evoke these ethereal qualities. Her artistic practice is deeply influenced by travels to awe-inspiring landscapes in Norway, Finland, Iceland, and Scotland. These locations, with their vast, untamed wildernesses, provide a profound sense of scale and unique atmosphere that resonate with her vision. Each etching captures the essence of these places, distilling their elemental beauty and raw power into a visual language that speaks of the infinite. In her work, she extracts elements from the landscape, focusing on the interplay of light and shadow, the suggestion of movement, and the delicate balance of forms both present and absent. This approach creates images that are grounded in reality yet suspended in a dreamlike state, inviting viewers to contemplate the boundless nature of existence. Each print becomes a testament to creation and erosion, presence and absence. Her prints engage in a vocabulary of the sublime, awe, wonder, and momentary fear, aiming to engulf the viewer in a sensory and intimate experience. This form of escapism addresses the vastness of space and our limitations within it. Philosopher Jean-François Lyotard described the sublime as "the incommensurability of reality to the concept," expressed through abstraction and the intangible. Her etchings evoke this, inviting a deeper connection with the world and the infinite void beyond.
