Andrew Beard produces etching/aquatints which are figurative, and show characterful places and landscapes, often from interesting or unusual viewpoints. Many feature locations in Cornwall or Derbyshire, both areas of outstanding natural beauty and great historical interest. Originally trained as an architect, Andrew was previously employed as the City Architect for Sheffield. Having always been keen on drawing, he discovered, and fell in love with, the intaglio printmaking process during a summer school at Falmouth College of Art. He then developed his printmaking skills under the inspiring tuition of John Howard RE at his studio in Penryn. Andrew uses copper plates, line etching, and aquatint. All his prints are monochrome, printed with black ink on Somerset paper. He has his own studio at his home in Paul, near Penzance. He has exhibited at the RWA Annual Open Exhibition, Penlee House Museum and Gallery in Penzance, the Wirksworth Festival in Derbyshire, Plymouth's Print in Action festival, the Jubilee Gallery in Penzance and at the Gurnards Head and Old Coastguard Hotels in West Cornwall.  He exhibits regularly with the PZ Studio group in Penzance.
