Wilhelmina Peace is a visual artist and printmaker, raised in France and currently living and working in Belfast, Northern Ireland. She holds a degree in Cultural Anthropology from Queens University Belfast as well as a degree in Fine Art Printmaking from the Belfast School of Art. Wilhelmina's work is deeply influenced by mythology, folklore and archetypal symbolism.
Bitten revisits the fateful moment in the Garden of Eden when Eve takes a bite of the apple. In Wilhelmina's piece, Eve stares out at the viewer with a fixed and defiant gaze. Far from being a gullible victim of temptation, she is re-imagined as assertive and aware, in full mastery of her power as an agent of change.
