Patrick O'Donnell

£0.00
Patrick O’Donnell’s ongoing practice explores ideas around the perception of shapes in suggested, constructed and real space. Developed over recent years from the geometry within domestic settings and making reference to Gaston Bachelard’s poetics of space, the First Universe series on display here references the architecture of our immediate environment and his interest in the idea of boundaries, territories and zones with the subsequent effects when they meet or merge. Essentially dealing with flat stencilled shapes of colour and playing with the various spatial relationships within the arena of the picture plane, different and/or distinct elements combine to create the whole. O’Donnell oscillates between painting and printmaking as he feels both processes are becoming increasingly important in how they are informing each other. Patrick is an artist and curator based in Phoenix Art Space Studios, Brighton. He gained BA (Hons) Fine Art at Southampton Institute 1997. Recent print exhibitions include On Paper, Tinta Invisible, Barcelona (July 2023), Solo exhibition – Glimpses at Phoenix Art Space, Brighton (2022) Other exhibitions include Sussex Open at Towner Gallery Eastbourne, and Discerning Eye and Via Art Prize London. He was also co-curator of the recent H_A_R_D_P_A_I_N_T_I_N_G exhibitions at Phoenix Art Space, Brighton.
