Josephine Birch

£0.00
Josephine is passionate about drawing: working primarily on location, she responds to the world directly around her. By allowing the changing weather and uncontrollable factors of working outdoors to influence the direction of the work the images take on the character of the place. Works begun outdoors are completed in situ; using sheets of paper taped together, she can fold up parts of the drawing and work on smaller sections. These works inform her printmaking, allowing memory and a ‘sense of place’ to influence the direction of the work. Josephine is currently represented by Partnership Editions. She is Print Co-ordinator at Arts University Plymouth, and has lectured in Illustration and Drawing at various institutions. Josephines picture Books have won multiple international awards (Graffeg Pub, Starfish Bay Pub.). Josephine has exhibited in Society of Illustrators NYC, RA and RWA, Woolwich Print Fair, Contemporary Illustration Expo, China & Christies, London. She has a first-class BA and MA from Cambridge School of Art and completed the Drawing Year at The Royal Drawing School. This year she has a residency at The Lemonade Press and with The Royal Drawing School in Tuscany.
