Ben Hancocks
Ben Hancocks born Lincolnshire 1951, studied, Grimsby School of Art 1967-1970, Camberwell School of Art 1970-1973.
The recent prints of Ben Hancocks come from a series of work, including drawings and sculptures, titled “elements of chaos”.
The shape of the forms reflect his love of early woodcut Totentanz prints and the demon drawings of the 15th century Transoxanian artist Mehmed Siyah Qalam.
Through mixing his own ink, Ben is able to control the plate tone, which creates the atmosphere through which his shapes move.
